Use Of Locations In The Music Video

For most of Rihanna's singing parts she is standing in front of a burning building, when first shown it is not clear as to why they have done this and it hints at Disjunctured video, however coming to the end of the narrative side of the video it turns out that it is actually the couple’s home that is on fire, this effectively joins the performance and narrative side of the video. A few scenes of the music video shows Eminem performing/rapping alone in a cornfield, This is symbolic of the fact that both the man and the woman in the narrative side of the video, (story telling side) feel lonely and abandoned, thurfermore, the cornfields have been used to help hint at the idea they are country people.
